About Kura
Kura has apprenticed and assisted under award winning communicator Christine Moses, M.A., and her change management firm Buffalo Cloud Consulting LLC (BCC.) With Christine’s guidance, Kura is honing their skills in communicating about racism and how to implement transformative system changes within organizations. As an occasional thought-partner with BCC, Kura is learning co-facilitation in DEI workshops, equity team trainings, survey and data collection, community engagement, strategic thinking, trauma-informed facilitation techniques, mindfulness, and active approaches for transformative and sustaining change.
“I began my own personal DEI journey at the age of 18. Having been a caregiver at a young age, and noticing the deficit between the amount and types of labor invested and the income provided, I began questioning the systems at work. From there on, I slowly developed my own personal equity lens. I started reflecting on my culture and beliefs, as well as many of the structures and systems that benefit me. Much of this work, I did without a thought partner to guide me along the path. This is partly why I have stepped into this work today: to be that valuable partner in equity and inclusion in a way that centers the voices and experiences of those most marginalized by our current systems and practices.
I excel at engaging with and holding space for white folks. Through mediation, mindfulness, breathing and meditation, we can, together, uncover the unconscious thought patterns, behaviors, and attitudes that may be preventing you from having more rich, authentic, and connected relationships in both work, as well as in every day life.
I practice providing a compassionate space, and fostering a general energy in which transparency, slowness, self-reflection, storytelling, patience and compassion are utilized and encouraged for all parties involved. The main goal is to guide people past the stages of defensive, reactionary responses and into a space of re-humanization, in which deeper connections can be cultivated and sustained. I invite you to come with curiosity, vulnerability, and deep honesty. When we team up from this foundation of human-centered relating, the possibilities rise exponentially.
For my own journey, I practice regularly avoiding stagnation and resistance, so that even while I am educating, I am always a student. Some of my most cherished moments are when a client is able to re-humanize me. I have witnessed the shift in their eyes, emotions and heart as the impact of our interactions draws out awareness. Suddenly, I am human, relatable, and we are connected. I believe these ‘ah-ha’ moments have the capacity to lead people forward on their anti-oppressive journey.”
In her spare time, Kura is an avid hiker, and enjoys being with plants and studying their medicinal properties. They are dedicated to her loved ones, and to assisting in finding a way towards a holistic, anti-oppressive, sacred, and sustainable connection with the Earth, and with each other.
“I am an Intuitive, singer, rhythm keeper, storyteller, goofball, and totally in it for the long haul.” ~KMM
